The Annual District Assembly will be on May 10th
in Meriden. John Annick of Trumbull,
a member of the Bridgeport club who was in attendance, will be introduced as the
new District Governor. The Assembly provides training for new officers and new
members. Attendance is paid for by the club. Ted Merritt passed out a list of proposed committee leaders for the
coming year, and included a letter from John Annick. Len Germano passed out a
copy of everyone’s Directory listing for updates. Please mail yours back to
Len, even if there are no changes. Walt
Dobosz and Fibi Leister of the
Fairfield Club discussed Follies 2001, A Broadway Odyssey, to be performed on
May 11, 12 and 13 at Roger Ludlowe Middle School in Fairfield. The show features
all-star students from area high schools, and directly benefits each
participating school’s theater arts program. Twenty students from Trumbull
High are in this year’s show. Sponsors and ticket sales help is needed for
this worthwhile program, which raised $1,400 for Trumbull High School last year. Birthdays
and Anniversaries:
None were
recognized due to the length of the program. Committee
Reports: Preston Merritt paid one dollar and then passed around a sign-up
sheet for the carnival, which starts on the eighteenth. Remember, there will not
be another meeting before the carnival. He still needs more help for Saturday
night April 21st. Program:
Steve Jakab introduced John A. Flores, MD, who practices at 15
Corporate Drive in Trumbull. Doctor Flores discussed Vitamins, Minerals and
their relationship to health. He also distributed an informative compilation of
information. Vitamin deficiency is rare in the United States, but not in other
parts of the world. Dr. Flores explained the more prevalent problem of taking
too many of certain specific vitamins.
Raffle: John Bogannam and
Len Germano drew for $552.00, with Len being the happy winner.
