***Important Board Meeting on Wednesday night May 2nd at
7:00PM*** Happy/sad
Dollars:.
Dan Calloway gave a happy dollar for
the great time he had at the convention with Bev Cambras. Lynn
Fontana gave a happy dollar for future Clam Jam parties, for Jim Lang and
for another Internet handout from the school system. Jim
Lang gave several happy dollars because he is going to Haiti next month for
a Rotary project and is looking for donations of old summer hats to take with
him. Jim also appreciated Joe’s great conference report and the support for
him. Jim paid a $100 fine to the Rotary Foundation for not doing “the dance”
for our club. Jack Quinlan gave a happy dollar for the great goal Chris Drury
scored in the first playoff game between the Colorado Avalanche and the Los
Angeles Kings. Rose Marie Spatafore
gave a happy two dollars for Jim Lang
dancing at the convention and the help she received from Len Germano. Phil Lane
gave a happy five dollars because a judge issued an injunction against ‘Clam
Jam” at Fairfield Beach this summer. Phil invited anyone who needs more
practice drinking beer, yelling, watering his or his neighbors’ flowers,
blasting stereos or becoming inebriated to gather at his home any Friday night
this summer, after the bars close. Bernie
Helfrich gave a happy dollar for the Boston Red Sox, who are in first place.
Guest Rotarian Ed Davies
gave a happy dollar for his new Rotary idol Jim
Lang, who wore Rotary-wheel tuxedo shirt-studs at the convention. Dick Stein gave a happy dollar because he and his son are going to
Alaska next month. Ian McMillan gave
a happy dollar for the Challenger baseball team, which started practicing for
its 12th season. Jayne Bolton

Hedrick gave a happy dollar because he found a check and returned it to its
owner, and then refunded an overcharge at Home Depot. Program: Angela DeLeon of People’s Bank, explained the
bank’s “Masters Program”, which began five years ago. The program is
designed to help bank employees and the general public understand that many
older people have sight, hearing and mobility impairments. The program also does
awareness training for the law enforcement community and for interested groups,
since many older citizens are targets, and sometimes
easy victims, of fraud. Birthdays

The club
sang happy birthday to Lynn Fontana
and Paul Squillace. Committee
Reports:
