Bill then told a moving story of the dedication of firefighters he observed in action during the past week. Bill was taking a client to lunch in New York State when the client was notified that his chemical warehouse, located nearby, was on fire. Bill and his client arrived at the scene to observe the courageous firefighters drive through the smoke, then deal with heat, fumes and flames to eventually extinguish the fire. Fortunately, there were no injuries. Birthdays and Anniversaries: The club celebrated in song the wedding anniversaries of Bill Zeidenberg and Joe Ruospo. New Member Induction: Membership Chairman Mike Rappa inducted Jim Bardon as a member of our club. Jim was introduced by his sponsor Tom Heaney. Jim read from several paragraphs that Rotary International President Rick King wrote regarding the importance of Rotary. Welcome to our club, Jim! Announcements: Bill Zeidenberg read from his accurate and extensive minutes from the last Board meeting. Numerous important topics were discussed, including tabling the issue of honorary Rotary membership, guidelines for charitable giving, and a savings on travel for the Rotary International convention in Spain. All members are welcome at Board meetings. The next one is September 5th at 7:00PM at the Marriott. Please try to attend---you and your suggestions are welcome. Len Germano announced at the Board meeting that Rotary memorabilia such as plaques, photographs and letters of appreciation are being sought for inclusion on the “Rotary Wall” at the Helen Plumb building.
