Bill Zeidenberg announced that many more riders are needed for the Bike-a-thon, which will be held on June 9th, however registration and phone calls have started to come in. The event has now been affiliated with St. Vincent’s Swim Across the Sound, and has been publicized on WICC.

Bill Dunn announced that the Sunset Run is scheduled for July 26, 2002 at 6:30PM at Twin Brooks Park. Our goal is 150 runners for the 3.1-mile race. There will be sponsorship opportunities available at 50, 100, 200 and 500 dollars. Marty Schiavone, a dedicated runner and teacher at Trumbull High, will coordinate managing the event. Committee members are welcome to become involved. The event will require 20 volunteers on the day of the race. The purpose of this fund-raiser is for the purchase of automatic defibrillators for the town.

Ray Baldwin announced that he wants to get many community members certified in the use of CPR as well as the defibrillators.

Len Germano announced that the Scholarship Committee reviewed applications from 33 students and selected 8 winners of $1,000.00 scholarships. One student from St. Joseph High School was selected, and seven from Trumbull High School. The Trumbull High School scholarship and awards night is May 30th, and all are invited to attend. All of the scholarship winners have been invited to our June 14th meeting.

Program:

Thelma Hoyt was our scheduled speaker, but unfortunately was ill. Therefore, Michael Redgate introduced Trumbull American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) Coach Bob Heeks to talk about funding needs for an AYSO team. His son Mike accompanied Bob and two other players in uniform, all members of the U12 (which means under 12) select team named the Trumbull Vipers. The team has been selected to compete in an AYSO National Meet in Hawaii and is now raising funds for the travel of members who otherwise could not afford to go. Team member Steven Dicairano read a letter from his father, also a coach of the team, explaining the need for funds. The third team member in attendance was Billy Collins.

Raffle:  Karen Ronald and Bob Patragnelli drew for $540.00, but no winning card was selected.
